This pages describes the service offerings of JaTomes Software and Consulting in relationship to IBM Mainframe programming and web site design and programming. As a full time employee of a Pittsburgh, PA business I don't have a lot of time for other endeavors. While that time is limited these are the services that I offer.

IBM Mainframe Programming and Consulting

With 35 years of experience in all aspects of IBM Mainframes I can provide a unique view of your particular situation. I have experience in multiple area; from Systems Programming, Networking, Design and Programming. For more details check out my LinkEdIn profile that shows previous experience in more detail.

I have high speed FIOS internet access to and from my internal network. Among my internal servers I have a Subversion repository server for source control for the various projects that I work on. My internal servers are backed up daily eventually migrating to a 2TB NAS server and then synced with a corresponding 2TB NAS server in a remote location. My Mainframe experience has taught me the value of having good backups.

I have VPN access to my internal network that requires a private certificate to insure network integrity. Access to my Unix servers is via SSH in addition to traveling through the VPN connection. Part of my security awareness is from dealing with ATM networks at work and the knowledge of the PCI standards that are required for credit card information.

Mainframe Consulting Rates

Rates for mainframe consulting are $150.00 per hour with a four (4) hour minimum for remote work. For on site work there is an eight (8) hour minimum, plus travel expenses will be billed.

Web Site Design and Programming

What started off as simply the design of personal web sites and associated business has developed into a general offering. These are the areas that Web Programming services are offered.

Design Languages

Primary languages and utilities are PHP and MySQL. These two items are among the most widest used tools for Web site presentation. Both are free thus allowing for less startup cost. Both are also supported by the open source community providing quick turnaround for security patches and other changes.

Web Site Programming Rates

Web Site Programming can be structured in one of two different ways depending on your requirements. Those methods are an hourly rate and per web page rate. The per page rate is based on the approximate number of hours required to build and test the page. The main difference being that I don't have to track the number of hours spent as closely as when billed by the hour.
Hourly Rates: are $40.00 per hour with a two (2) hour minimum for remote work. Nearly all Web programming is done remotely however, if desired on site work can be done and there is an eight (8) hour minimum plus travel expenses.
Per Page Rates: are $160.00 per page based on the assumption that a page generally takes about four (4) hours to code and test. A complete estimate will be give before starting any work so that the customer will know the anticipated costs based on their requirements.

Web Site Hosting

Web Site Hosting is available for those customers who have their web sites designed and maintained by JaTomes Software and Consulting.

Hosting Platform

My hosting platform is a Linux box running Apache Web Server, supporting PHP and MySQL.

Web Hosting Environment

Web Hosting includes a managed hosting environment. Their are two levels of management. My hosting provider maintains the basic operating systems and the various utilities necessary for web hosting. This includes keeping these items updated and all of the necessary security patches applied.
I provide the single point of contact to my customers for any problems or new requirements they may have. That includes but is not limited to EMail setup and configuration, web site backups (and restores if necessary), and assistance in transferring an existing web site. I can also register their domain and provide customized web site setup.

Web Hosting Rates

Web Hosting rates are $45.00 per quarter billed in advance. This includes the cost of registering your domain name. This includes up to 5GB of data storage and up to 100MB of transfer per month. There are an unlimited number of email addresses available with this plan.
For sites that exceed either of these requirements I move to a more dedicated server and charge $90.00 per quarter. This includes up to 50GB of data storage and up to 1GB of transfer per month. This plan also has an unlimited number of email addresses.
